Product Care

Salty Paws collars and leashes are built to handle salt water, sand, brambles, and the rest of the dog beach. A little care keeps them looking new for years.

Washing

Hand wash with mild soap in cool water. Rinse thoroughly. Air dry away from direct sunlight. Don't put your collar in the washing machine, dryer, or dishwasher — the hardware can scratch, and high heat can warp the buckle.

After salt water or sand

Rinse with fresh water as soon as you can. Salt and sand both work their way into the fabric and hardware over time. A 30-second rinse after every beach day keeps your collar looking new for years.

About REPREVE® fabric

Every Salty Paws collar is woven from REPREVE® recycled polyester — the same recycled-content material Patagonia, Quiksilver, and Nike use in their performance gear. It's UV-resistant, won't fade in the sun, and holds its color through repeated washing.

Hardware

The D-ring and buckle are rustproof stainless steel. They'll handle salt water without corroding, but a quick rinse after ocean swims extends their life. If the buckle ever feels stiff, a drop of mineral oil on the post will loosen it right up.

Storage

Hang or coil loosely between uses. Avoid leaving collars in direct sunlight for long periods (in a hot car, for example) — the colors are fade-resistant, but no fabric is invincible.

If something breaks

Salty Paws collars are backed by a limited lifetime warranty. If the hardware fails or stitching comes apart, we'll replace it. Email info@mysaltypaws.com with your order number and a photo, and we'll make it right.

Fit check

Wondering if your collar still fits as your dog grows or changes weight? Two fingers should slide easily between the collar and your dog's neck — snug but not tight. See our size chart for full measurement guidance.
